THE EGMONT CLUB. The second race with second-hamper birds was flown from Eltham on Saturday last, which was an ideal flying day, everything being in the birds’ favor. The winning bird flew the distance in seven minutes less than the previous race. The winning bird, which is owned by Mr. A. Raby, flew the distance of 28 miles in 41 minutes, a velocity of 1202 yards per minute. The results were as follow: Mr. A. Raby’s Wee Trinket, 41min (1202 yards per minute), 1. Mr. B. Mumby's Invincible and Mr. R. W. Hemingway’s Tukapa, dead heat, second; 42 minutes (1173.33 yards per minute). Mr. C. Gilbert's Pukearuhe 3. Mr. Prentice’s Painter 4. The next race for these birds will be from Marton. A general meeting of the club was held In the club room last night, all members being present. Correspondence from America regarding enamelled rings was received, and the club decided to adopt the enamelled ring for next season. A committee was appointed to confer with the New Plymouth Club and the show committee regarding the race to be held in connection with the show. Two handsome trophies were presented, one a valuable cup for a race from Christchurch, and the other trophy it was decided to allocate for an interval race from Palmerston, called the Champion Plate, to be won three times, not necessarily in succession. The cup presented by Mrs. Hemingway is to be won three times, either at intervals or In succession.
