CIRCULAR ROAD RACE.
ROUND MOUNT EGMONT. I'HE EVENT REVIVED. After a lapse of about nine years, the Taranaki circular road race is to be revived. At a meeting held in New Plymouth, last night, a committee was formed for the purpose of making arrangements for holding the race this year, and though no date has been decided on, it is probable the event will be run in October. At last night’s meeting Mr. E. WhittSe was voted to the chair, and after explaining the objects of the gathering, remarked that previously the event had ranked as one of the principal races in the world. He was very pleased to think that interest was being revived, and suggested they should form 'a committee and get to work. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. E. It was decided to accept the offer and to thank the donors. An offer of a donation of a bicyele was also received from E. Reynolds and Go., and was accepted. It was decided to communicate with other large firms, with the object of getting donations or prizes. The chairman said he thought they had done as much preliminary Work as was necessary in the meantime. He suggested that a meeting of the general committee could be called in the near future, and that in the interval members should try and gather as much data as possible in the shape of old programmes and information as to the lir.ee adopted previously. It was decided that a meeting of the committee be held on the 18th instant, to discuss drawing up a programme.
