LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Lave received the following cablegram from their London house under date 2nd instant:— Wool Sales.—There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being active, and prices, as compared with close of receding series, ruled par to 5 per cent, higher for good greasy merino, 10 per cent, for other sorts of merino, and 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, for all crossbred. The opening catalogues were representauve. WAIKATO MARKETS. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company, Ltd., Hamilton report:—At Hamilton on Tuesday, May 2, there was a small entry of shee.p and cattle, but a full yarding of pigs. The competition for fat sheep was keen, the quality yarded being good, while the entry of beef consisted mainly of cows. AU store cattle found a ready sale, with no change in values. Fat pigs improved slightly on last week’s rates, although the competition weakened towards the close of the sale. Slips and good stores were in demand, while weaners brought only fair competition. We quote: Heavy fat wethers (small pen) 25s to 27s 3d; heavy prime fat ewes 23s 3d; fat lambs 16b lid to 17s 3d; store lambs Ils to 14s; aged ewes in lamb 14s; prime young fat cows to £5 Is; lighter from £2 6s; fat steers to £7 10s; 2% io 3%-year steers £2 6s, £3 2s. £3 9s; empty cows £1 10s; small 18-month heifers, r.wb., £3 2s to £5; calves, best £1 7s to £1 16s; Jerseys £2 Ils; poorer calves from 13s; dairy cows and heifers £6 5s to £8 10s. Figs—Heavy baconers to £ 3 16s; heavy porkers to light baconers £2 8s to £3: light to medium porkers £1 15s to £2 3s; unfinished £1 2s to £1 14s; good slips 12s to 17s; weaners 5s to 7s 6d; small from 2s <6d; sows in pig £3 2s 6d to £3 15s. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Received May 4, 10.5 p.m. Sydney, May 4. Oats.—Algerian feeding Sa 9d; Tasmanian 3s lOd to 3s lid; white 4s Id. ■Maize.—Yellow 5s 6d; white 5s Id to 5« 3d. Potatoes.—Tasmanian £B. Onions.—-New Brown Spanish £7 10s. Adelaide. May 4. Oats.—-Algerian feeding 3s to 3s Id. BRISBANE WOOL SALES. Received May 4,10 J» p.m. Brisbane, May 4. At the wool sales competition was keen and prices were generally ten to fifteen per cent, above the previous sale.
