THE POOL PROPOSAL. OPINION IN LONDON. _ NOT SUPPORTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 2, 5.5 p.m. London, May 1. The Australian Press Association interviewed several leading butter importers regarding the proposed New Zealand pool. They were generally of opinion that the pool would not be advantageous to the producers. It was stated that all previous pool schemes had failed and that healthy competition was the best means of obtaining the highest prices and the most satisfactory returns to the producers.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MEETING AT PALMERSTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, May B. An important conference of representatives of dairy factories in the Manawatu, northern Wairarapa and Rangitikei districts met here to-day to consider the proposed dairy pool. Mr. Morton, chairman o-f the National Dairy Association, presided and outlined the objects of the proposal. The meeting is in progress.
