HOLY TRINITY, TE HENUI.
annual meeting of PARISHIONERS. The annual mee z ting of parishioners of Te Henui Church was held in the schoolroom on Monday, the vicar (Rev. G. F. Beale) presiding over a good attendance. The vicar's report of the parochial .district of Te Henui and Bell Block for the past year, also the report of the churchwardens (Messrs. L. N. Fairhall and H. J. Johnstone), were presented and taken as read, as were also the statement of accounts.
The vicar’s report recorded progress in many directions, and thanked the churchwardens and vestry for their help. Special stress was laad on the desirability of inviting newcomers to the church, and it was stated that the winter socials would be continued. Reference was made to the trying work in visiting the outlying parts of the Te Henui and Bell Block on a push bicycle, consequent on the strong winds prevailing. Thanks were expressed to Archdeacon Evans for his help, also the lay readers, the Ladies’ Guild, the choir, the organists (Miss Hodgson, Miss Greatbatch, Mrs. Choiomely, and Mrs. Groom), and the Sunday-school teachers. Gratification was recorded at the parish being cleared of all debt, except a small mortgage on the vicarage, and it was stated that the vestry had put the vicarage on the market, with the idea of erecting a vicarage on the church ground. The churchwardens’ report dealt chiefly with financial matters, reference being made to the Church Guild having raised £9O by sale of -work, thus enabling the second mortgage on the vieaxage to be paid off and £5O contributed towards painting the church and Sundayschool. The co-operation of parishioners was asked for in the ensuing year, and. tbe envelope system, or annual subscriptions, commended to new parishioners. The general fund account showed total receipts (including balance of £29 18s 5d brought down last year) amounting to £428 15s 7d of which general offertories accounted for £176 10s 7d at Te Henui and £36 5s 3d at Bell Block. The small credit balance is nearly absorbed by the outstanding accounts. The reports and accounts were adopted, the vicar speaking in praiseworthy terms of the good work of the hon. secretary and the vestry. The ejection of officers resulted: Mr. L. N. Fairhall, vicar’s warden; Mr. H. <]. Johnstone, people’s warden; vestry— Messrs. K. C. Akers, W. N. Stephenson, u. S. Giddy, and F. Phillpotts; representatives on the archdeaconry board, Messrs} Fairhall and Giddy; auditor, Mr. O. F. Foote. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the Ladies’ Guild, Sunday-school teachers, choir, and auditor. Mr. J. 'Stephenson moved that it be a recommendation to the incoming vestry to make a systematic canvass of the district, and to proceed with the erection of the memorial tablet as soon as funds are available. —Carried. In connection with the memorial tablet for fallen soldiers who were members of Te Henui Church congregation, the vestry would be glad to have the names of all entitled to be thus held in remembrance.
