Aitken was the only New Zealander in action at the tennis carnival who received a forfeit in the singles match. He lost the doubles with Graham against Anderson and Spratt 6—B, 4—6, 6—2, 5—7. ' Aitken failed to dovetail with his partner’s play, but was responsible for the lion’s share of tie work. Ho has not yet struck form, but his driving and smashes were excelent. The victors’ play was characterised by steadiness. Anderfson is a brother of the Dag is Chip representative. The ladies take part in the championships on Tuesday.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. HAWERA v. INGLEWOOD. Hawera met Inglewood on Saturday, at Stratford, in the final for the B grade ehampionsi ip, and after a very even game Inglewood won by two sets to nine, and 117 games all.
