AMERICA’S TARIFF.
OPPOSITION TO THE BILL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 27, 8.10 p.m. Washington. April 2'6. Senator Simmons, speaking an opposition to the Tariff Bill, said that if it was passed the indignation of the country would assume greater proportions than in the case of the Payne Aldrich law. He added that in spite of increases in agricultural products, farmers would pay five dollai® in micreased prices for every dollar they gained through the tariff. He denounced it as the worst Bill which had ever crossed the threshhold of the Senate, and concluded by saying that while the Treasury may gain 350 million dollars in duties, these same duties will tax the people by billions.—Aus.-N.2L CabU Assn.
