HIGH BANK INTEREST.

PROTEST BY DAIRY FARMERS. At the meeting of South Taranaki dairy producers at Hawera, on Monday, Mr. J. B. Marx referred to the rate of interest being charged by the banks, which he characterised as excessive, and, on his motion, seconded by Mr. J. R. Corrigan, it was unanimously resolved to bring under the notice of the Prime Minister the excessive rate of interest being charged by the banks operating in New Zealand, such high rate being reflected in the rates charged by other financial institutions. In the face of the stat* of the Home money market, and the severe financial stress of the dairy and other primary producers of the Dominion, it was respectfully submitted that the associated banks should make a substantial reduction in the rate of interest and the kindly assistance of the Government in the matter was solicited.
