DEATH IN THE AIR.
PILOT-COMPOSER KILLED. CHANNEL AIRWAY TRAGEDY. London, April 8. Two of the pilots who were killed in the London-Paris aeroplane collision yesterday were well known in Continental services. M. Mire, pilot of fhe French aeroplane, was one of the ablest of the French fliers and a famous air fighter in the war. He won the Croix de Guerre and the Medaille. Militaire. Captain Duke, the pilot of the English machine, was celebrated in the dual role of airman and composer. He composed fhe music of the recent tival at Portsmouth. He used to tell his friends that the exhilaration oi flying inspired hirS with ideas for musical compositions. Two London-Paris aeroplanes were in collision on April 7 near Beauvais, in France. They fell in flames after crashing head-on. The two pilots, one of the mechanics, and three passengers were instantly killed.
