PRINCE IN JAPAN.
STRAIN OF THE TOUR. INFLUENCE OF VISIT. PRECEDENTS BROKEN. ps. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 19, 11,15 p.m. Tokio, April 18. The Prince of Wales concluded the formal part of his visit with a dinner to Foreign Ministers, following a visit to the peace exposition and a reception by thirty thousand Tokio students. Last night he attended a magnificent reception at the Imperial Theatre with the Prince Regent, who attended a public theatrical performance in Japan for the first time. Seven Imperial princes and princesses were in the audience, which is unprecedented. From this and other happenings it is certain the visit of the Prince will leave its imprint on Japanese Court life, as it has already broken down many heretofore age-long barriers between the Imperial family and the people.
The Prince leaves on the 19th inst. for Nikko. On returning he unveils a memorial gate at the Yokohama foreign cemetery. Thence he goes to the other main cities in Japan. He is somewhat fagged by the rapid succession of functions, permitting hardly time to change his clothes or sleep, but he is evincing keen interest in his tour and is in good health.—-Reuter Service.
