ATHLETICS.
KAPONGA SPORTS. Intending competitors at the Kaponga Athletic Sports Club’s meeting, to be held on Thursday, April 27, are reminded that nominations close with the secretary (Mr. A. Melville) to-morrow. The programme, which appears in this issue, is a particularly attractive one, including both running and chopping events, besides a football tournament and relay race for footballers. The winning team in the football tournament will be presented with a handsome shield, generously donated by Mr. A. O. Casey, whilst each member of the winning team will be the recipient of a gold medal. It was hoped to have had a photograph of the shield inserted in the Auckland Weekly News, but this could not be arranged.
