Patterson and Anderson were both in great form. Critics argue that from the contests Australia’s chances in the Cup are good. Patterson beat Anderson, 4—6, 6—4, 6—l, 3—6, 7—5. In the doubles Anderson and Patterson versus Thomas and Sieler, the score was 2—6, 6—-4, unfinished.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable DAVIS CUP CANDIDATES Delhi, April 14. The All-Indla Lawn Tennis Association has invited the Fyzee Brothers, Ramaswatl, Barclay and Crawford, also Banga Rao, champion of Bombay, to play against Roumania in the first round of the Davis Cup. The team Is regarded as weak, as there are insufficient funds to send a stronger team. But if Roumania and Spain are beaten a public appeal will be made to enable the sending of Sleem and Beane to America. The players chosen are going to England in any case.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. In the doubles championship Doust and Lycett defeated Davson and Mavrogosdato, In the mixed doubles championship Lycett, and Miss McKane beat Watt and Mrs. Cradv ■ dock, 6—2, 6—2.—Aus.-N.Z.
