INGLEWOOD.
THE DOMAIN BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) April 13. The monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held in the municipal chambers on Tuesday, the 11th inst. Present: Messrs. J. R. Sutherland (chairman), D. T. Egarr, W. H. Eagar, R. Fawcett, R. J. Frewin, A. B. Gamlin, and F. Spurdie. The report of the reserves committee having been received and considered, it was resolved, on the motion of the chairman and Mr. Gamlin, that all the hedges be trimmed and fences attended to. and that the committee be empowered to deal with the matter of the fence at the hockey ground as they think most advisable. Other recommendations in the report were adopted. BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Borough Council met immediately afterwards, all the members being present. On the motion of the Mayor (Mr. J. R. .Sutherland) and € Gamlin, it was resolved that the ranger be directed to impound all stock found wandering at latge, unless the owner in any case should meet him and pay the lawful charge. The Mayor. Cr. Frewin, and the electrical engineer were directed to report concerning the additional light petitioned for in Maire Street. Messrs. Larsen and. Kilpatrick are to be informed that the council has ho power to cause trees on private proi perty to be removed, though they inconvenience owners of adjacent properties. On the motion of the Mayor and Cr. Eagar, it was resolved to adopt the reserves committee’s recommendation concerning the construction of concrete kerbing in the cemetery, improvement of entrance from Rata Street, and attention to trees along the bank of the Kurapiti, on the eastern boundary. The reports of the works and library committees were adopted. It was resolved to drive the tunnel in Kelly Street, as recommended, provided the owner of the land through which the outlet will have to be made gives consent. This work would enable the council to do away with the existing wooden bridge. On the motion of Crs. Fawcett and Gamlin £5O was voted as honorarium to the Mayor (Mr. J. R. Sutherland). Billiard room licenses were granted to Messrs. W. H. Eagar and P. MeGonagle.
