FITZROY SCHOOL.

ANNUAL PRBZE-GIVING. THE SUCCESSFUL PUPILS. The nnual prize-giving eeremony in connection 'with the Fitzroy School wm held on Thursday afternoon. The function did not take place at t>he end of last year on account of the school being closed for the holidays earlier on account of an outbreak of scarlet fever. The Rev. J. F. Martin, the chairman of the school committee, expressed pleasure at having the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) present to distribute the prizes. The Mayor made a few appropriate remarks to the children, stressing the importance of hard work and taking advantage of all opportunities. As an instance. Mr. Wilson spoke of the present Chief Justice of Queensland, who, at the age of 13, was delivering newspapers, l>ecauee he was too poor to go to school.
