INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) April 11. The remains of the late John Martin Parli were followed to their last rest in the Inglewood cemetery on Sunday last by a numerous concourse of old friends and fellow workers, besides members of his own family, and other relatives. The Rev. Mr. Perkins officiated, and the bearers were Messrs. F. H. Brown, J. Gollar, A. Lindsay, W. J. McCormick, E. Nicholls, and R. Stevens. Among others present at the graveside were Messrs. W. Collingwood and T. L. Parkin, who were shipmates with Mr. Parli when he came to New Zealand in 1875. There were others from remote parts of Taranaki, friends and fellow countrymen, who came long distances to pay their last respects to him and the memory of his worth as a fellow citizen in this land of their adoption. Farmers in Inglewood district will be interested to learn that the prospects of having a lecture delivered here on “Swine Husbandry” are gaining definite shape, so much so that direct communication with Mr. Gorringe, the department’s instructor on this subject, has begun, and a date proposed to him —viz.. May 6—which, if he consents, will be well and thoroughly notified through the Press in plenty of time beforehand.
