CHARGE OF MURDER.

MARRIED WOMAN'S DEATH. FIRST STAGE OF TRIAL. By Telegraph.—Press AssociaUon. Thames, Last Night. The proceedings concluded this morning in connection with the preliminary charges against Arthur WSlliam Page for the alleged murder of Mrs. Gladys M. Hutchinson at Pipiroa on February 7. The accused was committed to stand bis trial at Auckland on a charge of wilful murder. The evidence disclosed the fact that accused made a voluntary statement to the police, admitting the crime, and saying that he alone was responsible. At the inquest in connection with the death of the deceased woman, the verdict returned by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., the coroner, was that Mrs. Hutchison met her death, in accordance with the medical evidence, as a result of gunshot wounds inflicted by Page earlier in the day. Throughout the proceedings accused maintained an attitude of nonchalancealmost approaching indifference.
