TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club was held at New Plymouth last night. Present: Messrs. L. A. Nolan (chairman), G. Fraser, R. W. Sole, J. Brown, A. R. Standish, B. H. Chaney, W. T. Hookham, W. C. Weston, and J. McLeod. An apology for absence was received from Mr. Newton King. The course committee’s action in appointing an assistant custodian at the racecourse was approved. The chairman’s action in writing io the Hamilton Racing Club in reference to the dates for the 1923 autumn meeting was confirmed.
The question of notices of morion to be submitted at the forthcoming annual racing conference, to be held on July 13, was left to a sub-commitcee
consisting of Messrs. Nolan, Standish, Chaney and McLeod to arrange. A circular from the Racing Conference in reference to undesirables on racecourses was referred to the club’s solicitors.
In connection with the Ninth Taranaki Stakes, it was resolved that an amount of £5OO be given, divisible as follows: First £350, second £lOO, third £5O. «The aggregate value of the stakes was previously £750. The race, which is over a distance of six -furlongs, is for 2,3, 4 and 5-year-olds, with penalties and allowances. As the contract work at the racecourse is nearing completion, it was resolved to dispose of two of the club’s horses and a portion of the plant, including a dray and a scoop. Accounts amounting to £lO9 10b 3d were passed for payment. Owing to the Easter holidays the district committee meeting will be held on Thursday, 20th inst., instead of Tuesday, 18th.
