RECIPROCITY IN TRADE.
NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, April 10. The Herald, commenting on the New Zealand reciprocity agreement, says that it is to be regretted that during the negotiations some announcement was not made as to the lines on which the negotiations were proceeding. The consumer is interested in this matter, as well as the producer and manufacturer, and knowledge would have given the consumer an opportunity of checking the assertions of the manufacturer, especially when he claims that the high protection he now enjoys is necessary. Yet there remains the satisfaction that any agreement which will give freer trade between the countries will be of advantage to both.
