THE HIGH SCHOOLS.
BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The New Plymouth Boys’ High. School Board of Governors met last night. Present: Messrs. J. S. Fox (chairman), S. G. Smith, M.P., H. Trimble, A. Morton, L. C. Sladden, E. PWebster, F. W. Atkinson, L. A. Nolan, and A. E. Washer. It was decided to apply to the department for a grant to enable the board to make arrangements -for relieving the principals of the schools of routine clerical work. The chairman reported on the position concerning the proposal to make further accommodation for preparatory scholars at the girls’ school. He recalled that originally it was intended to put up a building to house 45 scholars, but the board had decided to increase this to give accommodation for 84. However, it was found that tJie cost was beyond the finances ot the board.—The matter was left in abeyance till next meeting. A letter was received from the hon. secretary of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club expressing their appreciation at being allowed the free use of the Boys’ High School grounds -for athletic meetings. The matter of fees for scholars will come up for consideration at the September meeting of the board.
