WAITUI SPORTS.

SOME KEEN COMPETITION. The Waitui Sports Committee were fortunate in having a fine day for their annual sports meeting, which was held in Mr. O. Dowman’s paddock yesterday. There was a good attendance of both local and outside supporters. The Waitara Brass Band, under Bandmaster C. Johnson, was present, and its items during the afternoon were enjoyed by the assembly. Miss E. Burkhardt had charge of the school children’s events. The competition for the chopping events was keen, and created considerable interest. The results are as follow: Boys’ Race; 100 yards.—A.
