HERTZOG’S SPLEEN.

A VIRULENT ATTACK. ON GENERAL SMUTS. “FOOTSTEPS DRIPPED WITH BLOOD.” By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 7, 1.5 a.mCapetown, April 6. In the course ot an extremely bitter speech on the second reading of the Indemnity Bill, Mr. Hertzog attributed the whole responsibi/ty for the recent bloodshed to General Smuts, whom he accused of letting things develop into disturbances, so that he could smash trades unionism. General Smuts’ footsteps, he said, dripped with blood. They lived in a country of murder and assassination. Mr. Hertzog was several times called to order by the Speaker. He moved to discharge the order for the second reading, and to refer the subject matter to a select committee.—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn.
