WORK OF LADIES RECOGNISED. *. S £» AY - The ladies’ committee which conducted the catering arrangements at the Taranaki Agricultural Society’s autumn show were the guests of the seciety at afternoon tea in the Hygienic rooms yesterday, to mark the appreciation of the work done by the catering branch. There was an attendance of about forty ladies, in addition to a number of members of the executive, Mr. W. B. Grant (president) occupying the chair. Reports received in connection with the recent show indicated that the catering department made a profit of £96 2s 7d, and the soft drinks stall netted £27 19s. The president conveyed to the ladies the society’s hearty appreciation of this splendid record and gratitude for the assistance received. Every member of the society, he said, knew that if it was not for the hard work done by the ladies the society would not be in its position to-day- The president’s remarks were endorsed by other members of the executive, who claimed that the fact that the Taranaki Show was the best show from the exhibitors’ viewpoint was due to the attention received and the splendid way in which they were catered for. The chairman intimated that if possible the society would also arrange a dance for the entertainment of the young ladies who had assisted at the show. At the conclusion of proceedings cheers were given for the chairman and Mrs. Grant.
