EX-EMPEROR KARL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received April 2, 5.5 p.m. Funchal, April 1. The ex-Emperor Karl is dead. [The late ex-Emperor Karl I was the son of the late Archduke Francis Joseph Otto and nephew of the aged Emperor Francis Joseph I, whom he succeeded on November 21, 1916. Karl was in his thirty-fifth year, being born on August 17, 1887. In 1911 he married Princess Zita of Bourbon Parma. They had four children—three boys, aged respectively 10, 7 and 5, and a girl aged 8. He abdicated in November, 1918, since when he and his family have been living in exile. Recent cables indicated that his condition was serious.]
