BOWLING.

CENTRAL DEFEAT WESTERN DIVISION. An interesting match took place at Stratford yesterday afternoon, wnen eight rinks from the clubs representing the central division met a similar number from the western division on the Stratford Club’s green. The central team comprised two rinks from each, of the Inglewood, Eltham, Avon and Stratford clubs, and the western team two rinks from each of the Manaia, Pihama and Auroa clubs, and one each from Opunake and Raliotu. The central division won by 176 to 141. The visitors were hospitably entertained to afternoon tea, and afterwards Mr. McCarthy, of Manaia, expressed thanks on behalf of the western division, Mr. J. S Lyons responding Tor the central division. Both expressed the hope that the innovation started this year will be continued annually.
