CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE.
A DISTINCT IMPROVEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The fourth and final wool sale ol the season was held to-day, when 9934 bales were offered. The quality was very moderate, there being a big proportion of seedy and stained wool entered. The sale showed a distinct improvement on the February auction for all classes, the advance* representing from par to three-farthings, and up to a penny in the case of good half-breds. There was a clearance of from 80 to 85 per cent, of the total catalogue, the bulk of the buying being done by Bradford representatives. A satisfactory feature of the sale was the animated crossbred demand, it being easily the’ best coarse wool sale of the season. Competition of the local mills was restricted to merinos and the fairest crossbreds. Bidding was throughout remarkably keen, and considering the quality of the offering it was the most satisfactory sale of the present series. Values were: Merino, super 17d to 19id, i medium 14£d to 16jd, inferior lOd to 12%d; half-bred, super 12£d to 15Jd, medium 10|d to 13|d, inferior 8d to 10%d; Corriedale, super 12Jd to 144 d, ordinary lOd to 13d, three-quarterbred, super 8d to 12£d, medium <%d to 7}d, super 4?d to 6d; medium crossbred super to IOJd, medium 6d to 7d, inferior 4i%d to 6d; coarse crossbred super s|d to 6%d, medium 4Jd to sd. inferior 3Ad to 4d; merino pieces 7£d to 14%d; half-bred pieces 4£d to 12Jd; crossbred pieces 3d to 7d; crutchings, pieces 3d to 62<1; locks 3d to
