FIRE IN A MINE.

OUTBREAK IN WAIHI. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Waihi, March 23. A fire occurred in the underground workings of the Waihi mine number 7 level at 8 o’clock last night. The company's up-to-date underground fire-fight-ing equipment was immediately brought into use. Ore producing points in the mine were not affected, as the area of the fire was confined to odd workings, but a certain number of men will be out of work pending the subjugation of the outbreak and the clearance of smoke from the fire area.
