DRAMATIC FIRE.
WIFE AND FAMILY LOST. POSITION OF THE HUSBAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 21. A most dramatic case has arisen at Norwich, where a widespread newspaper scheme was initiated as a new year advertising dodge. The insurances include covers in respect to sickness, fire, street, railway and motoring accidents. The papers are competing in generosity and promptitude payments. A fire recently broke out in the house of Frederick George, greengrocer, in. which his wife, son and daughter were burned to death. George escaped. The jury at the inquest added a rider that George should have made a greater attempt to save the family. The coroner has since again referred to the case: “George insured his wife and family in the newspaper scheme for £250, which was promptly paid. He must have immediately written to the newspaper. If I had know this at the time of the inquest the verdict might have been different. Under the circumstances it looks like a serious case against Qeorge. I have communicated with the police.”
