The shipbuilding negotiations have definitely broken down, and the conference delegates, who have been sitting at thq Ministry for several days, have dispersed, the delegates returning to their homes in the provinces. The men’s leaders rejected a proposal for a ballot upon the employers’ offer to reduce wages 10s Gd weekly now, an 1 a further Us on March 29, leaving the remaining 10s in abeyance. The Amalgamated Engineering Union is distributing £200,000 lock-out pay.
