ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE PEOPLE’S. GERTRUDE ATHERTON'S “OUT OF} THE STORM.” In Gertrude Atherton’s “Out of the Storm,” an Eminent Author’s Production made at the Goldwyn Studios, and which will be shown at the People’s Theatre,. -beginning to-night, Barbara Castleton appears in four distinct characterisations. In the early part of the story, she is seen as a ragged, halfstarved factory girl without employment and contemplating suicide. She next plays a dance-hail singer. in a rough eafe on the Barbary Coast in San Francisco, where her wonderful voice attracts the attention of a wealthy visitor. She graduates from these “Delicate” roles into the luxurious lot of the pet of this wealthy rake who sends her to a professor to have her voice cultivated, finally emerging in full regeneration as a famous singer, and the wife of an English nobleman. The picture contains one of the biggest ship-wreck scenes ever filmed. Gazettes, comedy, and “The Fatal Sign” are also shown. EVERYBODY’S. LAST NIGH.T OF “SHERRY” AND “THUNDER ISLAND.” Can a young man win his way in spite of unanimously hostile opinion after sowing a crop of wild oats? “Sherry” in the person of Pat O’Malley, who, it will be remembered was responsible for that rapid fire reporter’s role in “Go and Get It,” shows that the said young man can certainly win through in spite of everything. The story is from George Barr McCutcheon’s novel of the same name, and is as full of action as the proverbial egg is of meat. A big human story admirably produced is “Sherry” and one that guarantees perfect entertainment. On the same bill is the Universal feature drama •Thunder Island,” a stirring romance of the South Seas, featuring beautiful Edith Roberts. To-morrow’s change presents Charles Ray in his fast and furious First National production “45 Minutes from Broadway.”
