THE ASSOCIATION GAME AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S TOUR. PROPOSED VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. If sufficient cash guarantees can be obtained it is proposed to include New Plymouth in the itinerary of the Australian Association footballers who are to tour New Zealand this year. This was the matter before the New Plymouth Association Football Club at their meeting at the Soldiers’ Club last night. Mr. L. C. H. Dawson was voted to the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The team is to leave' Australia about May 20, and If the New Plymouth unatch is guaranteed, ttis will probably take place on a Wednesday in June. A guarantee of £75 is required if a match against. Taranaki is to be played at New Plymouth. The question of whether the Recreation Grounds could be secured for the occasion arose. Mr. A. L. Humphries (chairman of the Sports Ground Committee), on being approached, thought there would be no difficulty in obtaining the ground if due notice of the date on wtich the match is to be played were given so as to avoid clashing with Rugby fixtures. As far as obtaining guarantees was concerned, he thought there would be no difficulty, as an international team would sure to be a good A copy of the proposed itinerary for the North Island was forwarded. This provides for eight matches; a test itnatch against New Zealand at Wellington and Auckland, and matches against Manawatu. Wellington, Taranaki, Wanganui, South Auckland, and Auckland. The arrangements for the financing of the tour are that the New Zealand Football Association should pool all takings and take 25 per cent, of the net profits after recouping associations’ guarantees. The balance will be divided pro rata to the amounts guaranteed by each affiliated association. A discussion took place as to the best means of raising the amount of the guarantee and as to whether the amount should be raised by the New Plymouth, Hawera and Stratford Clubs, or, in view of the match being played at New Plymouth, by the local club alone. It was deemed advisable that the latter course should be adopted, and Messrs. A. Howlett, and G. H. Gorringe were appointed to wait upon business men of the town, explain the position to them, and solicit a cash guarantee for any sum they felt disposed to give. Several of tire club members also undertook to finance the guarantee.

The annual meeting of the Okato Football Club was held in the Okato Public Hall on Tuesday night, when Mr. P. Corbett presided over an attendance of about twenty-five memThe chairman said that it was to be toped that the club would have a more successful season than was the case last year. No doubt the members had been triers. The attendance at the meeting that evening augured well for the coming season, and he trusted that all would continue to stow the stwne enthusiasm during the season. Last year the club had entered a senior team in the B grade in conjunction with Rahotu, but this had hot proved too satisfactory owing to the difficulty of obtaining concerted practice and combination. The balance-sheet showed a credit in hand of £l3 14s Id, as compared with £ll 7s 9d at the beginning of the year. Receipts totalled £74 2s 7d, the principal items being dances £l3 9s lOd, and subscriptions £l9. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr. J. Putt (re-elected) ; pr< !ant, Mr. P. ■ Corbett (re-elected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs. J Mills, R. Gray, P. McCabe, J. S. Fox, J. Anderson, F. Ainsley and E. O. Meredith; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. C. Larsen (re-elected) ; delegate to the Taranaki Rugby Union, Mr. Jas. Garcia (re-elected) ; management committee, Messrs. E. Leedon, E. Corbett, R. Shotter (re-elected), C. Eustace, and J. L. Power; auditor, Mr. E. Corbett; selectors for first match, Messrs. Bert Andrews, C. Eustace, B. Roberts, and R. Shotter, and thereafter Messrs. Bert Andrews, the captain and vice-captain. It was decided that the colors should be green and black. The subscription was fixed at ss, members to arrange regarding their own insurance and their own travelling. Tte question of grounds was discussed. Mr. B. Roberts generously promised the use of his ground if necessary. Members generally were of opinion that an endeavor should be made to use the domain if possible, and failing that Mr. Roberts' offer will be accepted. It was resolved to thank Mr. Roberts for his offer. The arrangements for the ground were left finally in the hands of the management committee. It was decided to enter two teams, in tte senior B grade competition, and in the third grade competition. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. B. Roberts for the use of his ground, Mr. R. L. Larsen (the secretary), for his excellent work, to Mr. Jas. Garcia, as delegate, and to the ladies who had assisted with the ball.
Mr. Mills promised to donate a gold medal to be awarded to the senior player showing the most improvement, whilst Mr. R. Andrews promised a similar unedal to the most improved junior player.
ELTHAM CLUB. .(From Our Own Correspo ) The annual general meeting of itie Elttam Football Club was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. J. B. Dunn presiding over an excellent attendance. The secretary reported that the club for last season showed a credit balance ot £B2 15s. The senior team went through the season without missing a match, with tl:e exception of one match, which was defaulted owing to a misunderstanding caused by the Rugby Union. —Adopted. The members’ subscription was fixed at 5s for seniors, 2s 6d for juniors and third grade, and Is for fourth grade. Thirty new members were elected. It was decided to hold the first practice at Taumata Park on Saturday next. A motion expressing appreciation of Mr. Nuttall’s good work during the past and previous seasons was carried, and an honorarium of £lO granted. Mr. Christian (secretary) was also granted an honorarium of £lO. It was resolved to place on record the club’s appreciation of the splendid services rendered to tte club by A’% *nd Mrs. H. odder during lut aeaaoa.
