HON. C. J. PARR.

VISIT TO TARANAKI. A BUSY DAY. The Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister for Health and Education, arrived in New Plymouth from Auckland yesterday morning by the Rarawa. The boat was over an hour late, it being nearly seven o’clock before she berthed. The Minister, who was accompanied by Mrs. Parr and his private secretary, was met at the wharf by Mr. M. Fraser (chairman of the Taranaki Hospital Board). After being entertained to morning tea by Mrs. Fraser the party motored to the North Egmont Hostelry, which was reached an hour later. Here breakfast- was served, after which the party inspected the old mountain house nnd later viewed the Ngatoro gorge. The return to New Plymouth was made shortly after ten, the party arriving at the hospital at 11.15. The Minister then performed the opening ceremony in connection with the new nurses’ home, afterwards being in consultation with the New Plymouth High Schools Board regarding matters in connection with the Boys’ High School. After lunch the party proceeded to Stratford, where the new Technical High School was opened. The Minister leaves Stratford this morning en route to Wellington.
