The report stated that financially the season was not a success. The season commenced with a credit balance ot £77, and ended with a credit of £4O, leaving a deficit of £37 on the season’s workings. This is accounted for by the fact that under the scheme by which the Cup competitions were governed the Taranaki Rugby Union took all gate moneys, ahd although a portion of the senior team’s travelling expenses was refunded, no provision was made for assisting the junior teams. The travelling expenses were extremely heavy, amounting to £l3O. The committee feel that It will not be possible to carry on during the coming season under the same conditions, and it will mean that more assistance will have to be received from the Union or that the members’ subscriptions will have to be increased.
