MYSTERIOUS FIRES.

HASTINGS UNEASY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Hastings, March 13. A succession of six small fires, five in untenanted buildings,' during the past three weeks, has caused an uneasy feeling in the district that the outbreaks have been caused by the deliberate acts of a person with a mania in that direction, especially as the fires have occurred after a lull of a year, during which the town was free from fires. Last night there was an outbreak in White and Company’s wood and coal yard, amongst 150 hales of pressed hay. The brigade quelled the flames before much damage was done to the shed, which was insured, but the hay. which was not insured, was destroyed by fire, smoke and water.
