At a conference between Mr. Heathcote Williams (president of the New Zealand Cricket Association), Mr. Swan (chairman of the Essex County Cricket Club) and members of the New Zealand Cricket Council, matters in connection with the tour of Mr. MacLaren’s team were discussed. It was stated that Mr. MacLaren was bringing the team at his own financial risk. It was pointed out that Mr. MacLaren desired to play one match in Australia coming out and eight going back, and, this being so, the sanction of the Marylebone Cricket-. Club would have to be obtained for the proposed tour. It was resolved to cable the Marylebone Cricket Club, asking if it had given its sanction to the proposed tour.
