DOG TRIALS.
AWAKINO MEETING. THE DETAILED RESULTS. The annual trials of the Awakino Collie Dog Club were held at Mr. W. D. Thomson’s paddDek, Awakino, on Thursday and Friday last, when competitors were present from all parts of the district. On Thursday evening a concert was held, whilst on Friday the Collie Chib’s annual trial took place, when there was a very large attendance. The stage had been tastefully decorated with ferns. The members of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce touring party were present during part of the evening, together -with Mr. W. T. Jennings, member for the district. During the evening Mr. T. C. List (president of the Chamber of Commerce) took the opportunity of thanking the Awakino people for their hospitality to the party. He personally had followed the annual meetings of the dog club with great interest. He spoke in appreciative terms of the club’s success and the grit they had displayed in carrying on during the war period. He promised to donate a trophy for the next meeting. The dance music was provided by Mrs. Christofferson. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Thompson as follows: Class I (50 points).—F. Waddell’s Swift (45) 1, C. Riggs’ Tweed (39) 2, K. Black’s Ring (37) 3. Class II (66 pointe).—E. Johnson’s Hemp and Nell (62) 1, E. Johnson’s Rogue and Speed (56) 2, C. Riggs’ Roy and Tweed (54) 3. Class HI (4$ points).—W. Mirfin’s Tyke (46) 1, K. Black's Darkie (45) 2, C. Riggs’ Roy (41) 3. Class IV (49 points). —K. Black’s Darkie (44) 1, C. Mirfin’s Tyke (36) 2, C. Riggs’ Roy (32) 3. Hawera Cup, presented by Mr. J. R. Corrigan for Class I.—Mr. F. Waddell’s Swift, 45 pointe out of 50. Nioi Estate Trophy, for local dog in Class I. —Mr. Waddell’s Swift, 45 points out of 50. Oak Tray, for dog scoring most pointe in Classes 111 and IV. —Mr. K. Black’s Darkie 89 points out of 97. Silver Dish, presented by Mr. R. McRae, for dogs scoring most pointe in Classes I and IV (local). —Mr. K. Black, 81 out of 99. Cup, presented by Mr. K. Black for Class IT.—Mr. Johnson’s Hemp and Nell, 62 points out of 66. Mr. A. Duncan’s Trophy for Shepherd’s Team in Classes I and lII.—Mr. Riggs’ Tweed and Roy, 80 pointe out of Mr. J. Bennett’s Medal for owner in Class II whose dog has not won a previous prize.—Mr. C. G. Bignell’s Mick and Tip, 35 pointe out of 66. Mr. W. D. Thomson’s Special Prize for Class IV for Owner who has not won a previous prize (corifined to local competitors).—Mr. J. Toss’ Tip, 23 out of 49. Mr. F. J. Wolfe’s Medal for Maiden competitor scoring most points during the trials.—Mr. D. Bowers, 83 points.
Mr. A. Mack’s Medal for Winning Dog in Class lII.—Mr. W. Mirfin’s Tyke, 46 points out of 48. Mr. E. G. Broad’s Medal for the competitor under 21 scoring highest points. —Mr. C. Rigg.
