Mr. O’Neill, secretary of the New Zealand Swimming Association, states that Misses Hoeft’s and Shand’s records at the championship meeting were timed by competent male time-keepers, and that no championship performances in the Dominion have «ver been timed by women. LIFE-SAVING COMPETITIONS. NEW PLYMOUTH LADIES’ CLUB. Competitions in life-saving methods were conducted at the municipal baths on Saturday afternoon under the auspices of the Ladies’ Life-Saving Club. All events were well supported by swimmers. Results are:— First event, third method release and third method of rescue, judged on points.—A. Smalley 1, M. Ross 2, O. Penman 3. Seven competitors. Backstroke, using arms and legs, one length. —O.
