For the first day of the New South Wales amateur athletic championships the weather was hot and the tracks good. In the 100 yards Oosterlaak (South Africa) went ahead at the fifty yards and held the advantage to the finish. Results : One Mile.—H. Grandemange 1, L. Tunley 2, M. Grandemange 3. Won easily. Hutton led throughout, though Johnston put up a great fight to the straight. Won by six yards. Time, 51 4-5 sec. Putting the 161 b shot. —D. Munro, 38ft s%in, 1; W. Payne, 36ft 2; C.
