THE MEAT POOL.
BOARD MEETS NEXT WEEK. SOME IMPORTANT DECISIONS. The members of the Meat Producers’ Board are to meet in Wellington on Tuesday 'next. This will be the first meeting of the board, and some *very important decisions will require to be made. The election of a chairman will be the first business. Then there is the establishment of the London Agency, which is to be put into operation as quickly as possible in order that the board* may be furnished with the best available information concerning prices and markets. General questions of policy have also to be discussed. It is being* taken for granted, in view of tjie statements of Ministers and the known opinions of members of the board, that the proposed , compulsory pool will not. be formed during the remainder of the current season. The board .probably will interfere very little with existing ariangements this season. An undertaking has been given that contracts already made will be respected by the board. If there is to be a compulsory pool next season, the farmers and the other people concerned will be given adequate notice of the fact.
