The coke trade on the South coast is threatened in consequence of coke from other countries underselling Australian coke in American ports. The manager of the coke works at Jeyawarra says that, unless the copt of production is cheapened, the export trade is doomed. MELBOURNE MURDER APPEAL. Melbourne. March 8. The Full Court has fixed next Wednesday for the hearing of Ross’s application for leave to appeal and for the appeal itself. The court has also directed prisoner’s counsel to furnish, not later than the 11th, an affidavit setting out the full grounds of appeal. SHIPPING POLICY. Melbourne, March 9. Mr. Hughes has announced that, owing to union interference with the. management of the Largs Bay, it is impossible for the Government to continue its shipping policy, which will be reconsidered.
