HOUSE OF COMMONS.
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received March 8, 5.5 p.m. London, March 7. In the House of Commons, on the miscellaneous war service men’s vote, Mr. Cecil Harmsworth (Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs) stated the Government was paying about £145,000 annually, making a total to date of £1,100,000 in support of the wives and families of Deniken’s forces. It would be a great advantage if the League of Nations, with financial support, could take over the problem and secure the placing of these families among the L.u'Kan countries, which were needing population. Mr. Hilton Young, replying to questions. said the Government would not undertake to introduce legislation providing reciprocally that residence in any part of the Empire should go towards qualifications for old age pensions.—Aus.N.Z.
