THE SPORTS GROUND.

CONCERT SATURDAY NIGHT. A meeting of the sports ground committee was held last night, when Mr. A. L. Humphries presided. There were also present: Messrs. E. Jackson, F. J. Hill, A. Roberts, C. Townsley, E. Avery, J. Quin, F. C. Ferry and E. Little (secretary). Final arrangements were made in connection with the entertainment which is to be held in the Pukekura Park on Saturday evening next. Messrs. Ferry and Kenny reported that a splendid programme had been arranged, and also that the band had generously agreed to play from the post office to the park, leaving the post office at 7 30 p.m. The concert programme is to be given from a platform erected at the poets’ bridge, and the novelty of hearing the vocalists across the water, besides the good cause for which the entertainment is being held, should ensure a record crowd,. A special feature will be the lighting effects.
