MINISTERS IN CONFERENCE. YESTERDAY’S PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Methodist Conference to-day received a deputation from the Young Citizens’ League, the president assuring the visitors of the sympathy of the church. It was decided to ask congregation* to take up a retiring collection for the Russia famine fund. It was reported that the centenary fund was now £36.580. It was agreed that the central committee be the new century committee to study the future work of the church and report under th* headings of spiritual, aggressive, educational, social and philanthropic general, and make progress reports to the next synods and conference. A resolution was passed affirming the conference’s favorable attitude to church union, and expressing conviction that the best and speediest path to union is by closer association in religious activities at home and on the missnn field. The conference affirmed abhorrence of war and the fullest symn?thv with the objects of the League of Nations. The conference passed a resolution demanding the compilation of a ro«roll for the general election. It lr> 1 been proved that there wore more than 20,000 names on the present roll over the total number of adults in the Dominion. It was also affirmed that the churches be recommended to allow ministers to assist in the prohibition campaign.
