DAMAGE BY STORM.

BRIDGES CARRIED AWAY SERIOUS LANDSLIDES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Westport, Last Night. Very heavy rain, thought to be due to the bursting of a cloud, occurred in the Karamea district on Wednesday, washing away three bridges on Arapito Road, three chains of road at Granity Creek, bringing down great land slips on the Mok ihinui-Karamea Road and doing considerable damage. The Minister for Public Works (Hon. J. G. Coates) contemplated making a. trip down through Karamea to Westport, but it is probable he will have to recast his programme.
