CYCLING.
THE ELTHAM CLUB. A meeting of the general committee of tiie Eltham Cycle Racing and Athletic Club was held on Wednesday evening to consider the possibility of promoting road races in accordance with the programme previously outlined (the Argus reports). The secretary (Mr. H. A. Nuttall) reported that the club’s funds were not such as to enable them to offer adequate prize money, and these races were always run at a loss. In the course of a brief discussion it was pointed out that those who had already competed for the Boomerang Cup should be given an opportunity to win this trophy. It was therefore decided to circularise the riders, pointing ’ out that if they so desired the club would arrange the Wai■puku race for cup points, but could offer no prize money. The funds received would then be used in an endeavor to promote the Opunake race. It was also resolved that if riders agreed the 'Waipuku race should take the form of a sealed handicap.
