WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) February 27. The Rev. Howard Elliott (organiser for the P.P.A.) addressed a fair audience in St. John’s Hall last week. His address chiefly consisted of an attack on the Roman Catholic Church and the Bolshevik Labor Party. A picnic, under the auspices of the Waitara Seaside Society, was held on Saturday last, in ideal weather, there being a fair attendance. The relay race for the Rewipoto ('up was won by Waitara A team, four teams competing. The tug of war for the society's challenge Cnp was won by Motonui school, three teams competing. Races for the children were held during the afternoon. The Clifton Rowing Club are to be represented at the championship regatta at Wanganui next month by the following crews:—.Junior clinker and best and best: W. Spnrdle (■stroke), R. Sri George, D. Tate and F. Ross (bow). Maiden Fours: R. Lawrence (stroke), G. Knuckey, R. • Butcher and McGregor (bow). Single sculls: M. Cain. The death occurred on Friday of the wife of Mr. C. Crowley, after a brief illness. There is a young family left, and the loss of the wife and mother is veTy deeply regretted.
