The thirty-ninth annual show under the auspices of the Normanby Horticultural, Poultry and Produce Society, open« to-day, and as evidence of the popularity of that -institution it is announced that the entries easily constitute a record. Tn all the entries total 1200, which is roughly a third more than last year, and about 200 better than the be-st previous year. A feature is that the main increase is in the farm and garden section, though practically every section shows an increase. The poultry section also is a very large one This increase is a tribute to the progressive policy adopted by the committee, especially in offering points pr4aes. The accommodation of both the society’s own hall and the public hall opposite will be fully taken up. but the officials have splendidly staged the exhibits and all can be seen. They are worthy of inspection, as showing what a productive district Normanby is the centre of. There shoud be a record attendance on both daysj especially as there are additional attractions in the shape of pony jumping this afternoon gud Highland dancing to-morrow afternoon, when pipers from the Eltham Pipe -Band will be present.
