TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board, was held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 22nd, 23rd and 24th insts. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), S. Blake, C. J. Ryan, N. R. Cleland and J. W. H. Martin. The application by James Sim for section 3S, Katikara Settlement, was approved The following applications to transfer were approved:—Section 19, town of Hawera Extension, R. J. Harrison to J. R. Gallagher; section 369, town of New Plymouth, A. H. Evans to N. P. Rickard; section 3, Block V., Mahoe, R. McCluggage to M. McCluggage; part section 25, Hua and Waiwakaiho, W. H. Briggs to W. S. Phillips; section 540, town of New Plymouth, C. R. Fairbrother to E. Darney; section 1, block VIII,, Ngatim&TU, M. McCartain and F. H. Carr to H. B. Salter. The transfer of section 3S, Marco Settlement, from A. J. Curry to C. H. S. Jennings was refused. The transfer from Tichbon to Washbourne was adjourned. The transfers from Murray to Finch, Birch to McGovern, and Grigg to McDonough, were reported on to Wellington. The award of the arbitrator in the matter of the renewal of Education lease of section 3, Block VIII., Waitara, held by F. M. E. Newton, was received. The application by A. H. Sorenson for permission to effect improvements on sub. 55 of section 1, Ohawe Town Belt, was approved. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Whangamomona County Council were approved, subject to the ranger’s report. It was resolved to remove the restriction.-. from sections 11, Block X., Mapara and 26, Block IL, Piopiotea West, which were offered under the Discharged Soldiers’ Acts, and offer them under ordinary tenures. A statement of the resuirements of the Ohura soldier settlers was submitted to the Land Board, and was duly received. Sixty-seven cases under the Discharged Soldiers’ Acts were dealt with, and of these, 22 applications for stock loans were recommended and 1 deferred; 6 applications to transfer were recommended, 1 deferred and 3 refused.
