ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A BOY SHOT. By Telegraph.—Press Grey mouth, Feb. 27. Alexander Outram aged 16, residing at Blackburn, on Saturday went shooting birds. His cousin, of similar age, accompanied him, one having a pistol and the other a pearifle. Outram shot at a sparrow, but the rifle missed fire. His cousin stepped forward, but slipped, and, happening to have his fingers on the hammer of the pistol, discharged it. The bullet entered Outram in the right side, inflicting fatal injuries. At the inquest a verdict was returned that the boy was accidentally killed. GIRL KILLED IN COLLISION. / Gisborne. Feb. 27. On Friday evening a collision occurred in the main street near the centre of the town between a motor-car driven by A. E. Bourgeois and. a gig occupied by Kathleen Joyce Brown, aged 17 years, and a youth named Higham. The occupants of the gig were thrown out and Miss Brown was removed to hospital suffering from concussion. She never regained consciousness and died last night. A STRANGE FATALITY. Pahiatua, Feb. 25. Thomas George Miller, a single man, 39 years of age, was picked up unconscious in a Woodville street late at night on the second day of the races and admitted next day to the Pahiatua hospital. He never recovered consciousness, and died on Thursday. A post mortem revealed a fractured skull. An inquest was opened and adjourned to Woodville next Friday.
