A NAVAL HERO.
LIEUT.-COMMMANDER AGAR, V.C. ATTACK AGAINST BOLSHEVIK SHIPS. On board H.M.S. Chatham is Lieut.Commander Agar, V.C., D. 5.0., with whom a Daily News representative yesterday had an interesting chat When asked under what circumstances he won the coveted Victoria Cross Lieut.-Commander Agar, with characteristic naval modesty, was inclined to dismiss the subject and to direct talk into other channels, but finally in a most unassuming manner, outlined the exploit in which he won the V.C. It appeals that Lieut.-Commander Agat was in charge of a mo tor-boat which' was one of a patrol to make an attack on the Bolshevik fleet in 1918. The raid was made on the Baltic port of Krondstadt, hitherto considered impregnable. These motor-boats were provided with two torpedoes apiece which derive their motive power from engines with which they are fitted. Lieut.Commander Agar made good use of both his torpedoes and was responsible forj sinking two of the largest of the BolA shevik battleships. The motor-boafl in which he was in charge was the only one to emerge from that daring exploit, and for the signal service which he rendered Lieut.-Commander Agar won the V.C.
