DOUBLE DROWNING.
MARRIED MEN THE VICTIMS. WIVES WITNESS TRAGEDY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A sad drowning accident occurred on Saturday night, the victims being two well-known Auckland residents, Keith Naylor Laurie, aged 30, of Ponsonby, and a brother-in-law, Charles Knox Russell, aged 31, at Morningside. After a launch trip deceaed and party anchored the craft 70 yards from Bucklands Beach, off the mouth of the Tamaki River. Four men, including the deceased, started for the shore in a dinghy, which capsized 50 yards from land. One survivor swam ashore and another was washed ashore clinging to the dinghy. The deceased were swept out to sea by the current and attempts at rescue and the search for the bodies were fruitless. The fatality was witnessed by the deceaseds’ wives.
